Statement

I create works in ceramics, sculpture, and installation art. Driven by an interest in bodily sensations, memory, and emotion, I focus on the difference between the psychological and physical distances that arise between the viewer and the object, and I attempt to sculpt images that emerge from the viewer's varying interpretations. Throughout my body of work, I also reflect on the nature of vessels, conceiving them as the "form of emptiness"—as containers that encompass meaning, vessels for the soul, vessels that retain form, and vessels that protect against death and preserve life. For my ceramic work, I select porcelain as the material that best suits the forms inspired by various sources. For earthenware, I use clay rooted in the local land, believing this serves as an opportunity to learn about the local way of life, climate, and culture.
